Six pokemon drabbles

Collection of old Pokémon drabbles from an old request post I ran from 28 Aug 2010 to 8 Sep 2010.

Hoarfrost | G | 100 | Green/Red | romance, fluff, humor | for [livejournal.com profile] ennie03
It's Viridian's worst blizzard in years, but despite Green's protests, Red is going out for groceries. Green bundles him in a scarf and a woolen hat, muttering "Stubborn jerk" and "Hypothermia," and sends him into the snow with Pikachu on his shoulder like a tiny yellow navigator.

Red comes back two and a half hours later, without the scarf and with his cap instead of the hat. "Where the hell have you been?" Green demands. "It's just milk and bread! And pick up your damn phone!" Red just shrugs and drops the bags on the table.

He's purchased ice cream.

Daybreak G | 100 | Morty's Gengar (Moegar) + Morty | fluff, character study, friendship | for [livejournal.com profile] eh_truffle
Now that Morty is his partner, Gengar must become diurnal. But the flesh-bags will be awake, he whines. That's no fun.

You live with humans now,
Morty reminds him.

--

He clings to Morty's ankles. The sunlight's in me, he cries. My insides will show.

All the better for scaring people, Morty says.

Gengar has to admit that's true.

--

The next morning, they stand on the roof. Gengar's eyes widen as light spills across the sky. Is this why flesh-bags like the day?

It's one reason.

Gengar watches, mesmerized.

...I'll try. But—we do this. Every day.

Morty nods.

Snow Blindness | G | 100 | Candice | character study, drama | for [livejournal.com profile] ibuberu
Candice never shades her eyes, even on the brightest, most cloudless days.

Candice wears skirts and short sleeves through snowstorms and subzero temperatures. She once dreamed of moving to warmer climates, but now she is too snowbound.

Candice is plucky and tough and everyone loves her, but this town is too small and she is always alone. Her Pokémon respect her concentration and focus—they don't realize that it's all she has.

Candice stomps holes through the snow's icy crust and watches as wounds stamp her skin. Blood falls; she smiles. There's no regret. She only feels numb.

Receive | G | 100 | Red/Green | romance, fluff | for [livejournal.com profile] karudoll
Green's hand slams onto his desk and the argument stills. "Get out," he whispers. When his trainers leave, he counts to ten, then twenty—then loses count.

He doesn't have time for this. His leader review is coming up, and when he isn't battling, he's preparing. He no longer sleeps—he crashes.

Red, carrying a blanket and a thermos of soup, finds Green cursing at a page that shakes in his hands. In a moment, he takes the paper from him and throws the blanket over his shoulders.

"Red? What are you doing?" Green mumbles.

"Paying you back," he replies.

Inheritance | G | 100 | Janine(+Koga) | character study | for [livejournal.com profile] neutralize
He places the keys in her outstretched palms and her hands sag from the weight. This place is yours now, he says.

--

The gym is cool and familiar, but Janine still feels uneasy.

She lies down in the middle of the floor and stares at the darkened ceiling. As a child, she often fell asleep here and would wake to see her father's shadow standing over her. Get up, he would say. This is no place to rest.

Now that he's gone, it feels like the only place she can.

She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes.

Expatriate | G | 150 | Surge+Koga | friendship, character study | for [livejournal.com profile] skorupion
Koga appears with two tickets to France. Official League business, he says.

"The hell they sending you to France for?" Surge grumbles.

"Flying Pikachu," Koga replies. "I'll meet you at the dock."

--
--

Surge shouldn't be on this boat.

It's bad enough that he abandoned his homeland. It's bad enough that he owns a gym: those should go to people who belong on this continent. But now this small-town kid from Kansas is discovering a love of the ocean?

It's pretty bad, all right.

--

Surge returns with Volty (a Pikachu of the non-flying variety) after months of enduring unintelligible French. "See that?" he says, pointing at Vermilion in the distance. "That's home, girl."

The words leave his mouth and that's when he realizes that he belongs here now, in Kanto. And you know what? It's...okay.

Next time he travels, Surge tells himself, he'll visit his family.

And then he'll come home.

Ahhh, I really like Janine. The whole 'following the father's steps' is kind of a cliche, but I still like it (I really started liking her since HGSS, with all the "my father's better that yours" thing with Falkner XD)

[identity profile] neutralize.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't like Janine much at first, but I convinced my friend to like Green and in turn she convinced me to like Janine. XD She's a really competent character so she's fun to think about.

there are no words to express how pleased I am to hear this

thanks for making me see just how wonderful Green is, in return :D
